Let Your Marketing Speak for You

By June 5, 2019 No Comments

This footage was created on 26 July 2018.

It was the very first video that I recorded of myself talking to the camera.

That may not sound very impressive or surprising to any of you.

I can tell you that I was literally terrified and felt like I was getting chased by a lion.

There are a couple of reasons why I’m sharing this with you, even though it’s been hidden from public view until now.

My off-the-cuff message on the importance of marketing your work with an amplified personal brand has not changed one bit. My belief in that is now stronger than ever.

Second of all, showing up and being able to talk about what you believe in takes courage, and once you overcome that initial fear, the results you can experience are enormous.

I’ll repeat what I said in my first video which ended rather abruptly. My point in that video was:

You cannot rely on your work to speak for you-you need to actively market your work and your brand with consistency and frequency. And if you’re asked by those who are cynical about showing up so frequently and consistently, you can answer their query by saying, “I’ll let my marketing speak for itself”.

You can say it’s lame. Sure, perhaps I was trying to be too clever by saying so.

Tell you what though. The evidence is here – you’re reading this. You may have seen some silly video of me directing Crystal (avoiding double chin video) or you’ve had an in-depth conversation with me about your own personal brand.

Are you letting your work speak for you?

What if you actively market your work? What would be possible for you then?
